A child of many
Unruly and feral
Hair all matted
Filthy feet and face
A child unkept
Seen far away
As she plays
In her soiled
Backyard
Looking up
A saddened smile
Caught between
Those tears

A child of many
A need for love
And a friendly voice
A bath to wash away
The memories
Of all her truths
This little child
Of fearful smiles
As she winces
To each touch
In the safety
Of those who cared for
A child of many

A child of many reminds me of my own childhood, though I was a child of nobody! The wincing to each touch and the need for love was me in a nutshell!!
