Audrey’s memory lane

Times you laugh hard
At the antics of loved ones
Julie gets stuck in the loft
As old Fred comes to say hello
Going down memory lane
With you, dear Audrey
Is my biggest honour
There is so much to say
I met you once and you made me smile
At a love for your child
Like no other
A lady of little words
With a big heart
Quietly spoken — yet I see you
A mother, grandmother and great grandmother
With a love of owls and your family
This little poem, Audrey
Is a little reminder
That you two daughters, your son
Eight grandchildren and your
Great-granddaughter
Loves you
A warrior who has touched hearts
Is you

About a week ago, a friend and work colleague reached out to me with a request that will stay with me, always!
As her beloved 87year old mum is having a tough time and is currently in hospital, she asked me to write a poem that she can read out to her mum, of course, I said yes — it was such an honour.
She gave me a few details, funny things and a little about her children and grandchildren.
I had to get it just right, I had to deliver something beautiful and…I did!!!
She’s yet to see her mum but she loves it, her brother and sister loves it and there were a lot of tears.

This is the story behind this beautiful poem :
Audrey’s memory lane
