Crumbling life
Begging, she starves
Of her own future
Breathing in silenced
Heartbeats — she pauses
Five bridges
she wanders
In aimless wonder
A world hers
Yet fear hurts
Emotionless
Possibilities gone
Days go into weeks
Weeks into months
And…
Months into years
Searching, she moves
House to house
Town to town
To cities and her
Five bridges crumbling
Her journey to home
She finds her own peace
Her sanctuary
No longer in solitude

This poem is based on my journey to find a place to call home. Five bridges represent the towns/cities that I moved to. It took many years to find my place, a place to call home, and a place to feel safe.
