Trigger warning — mentions of death

Photo by Jeremy Bishop on Unsplash

I chose a life
When you lost yours
I begged you to stay
Your ears didn’t hear my pleas
I feel your words
Rattling against my soul
Your laughter shaking
The universe with joy
I feel your tears, as they
Rest upon my shoulder
Can you feel mine?
A hole left, unfilled
Your presence felt — yet
Not seen
I feel your love
But unsure that you feel mine
This anniversary tougher
than others gone by
It pains me that you left
Quietly, you slipped away
Leaving your soul
To be felt and held onto
There was light that day
Rainbows paving the way
For you until eternity — W.M

I write this poem to share my sorrow with others, yet I chose life after she passed!
6 years tomorrow (10/06/16) my world fell apart when I lost my best friend to Cancer…Melanoma and secondary cancer. Life goes on, it has to but it’s tough, especially with looking after my children and the fallout from her family when she passed away.
For you, W.M
