I did not ask you to…

I did not ask for you
To shower me in hatred
Or to hit my head off the floor
I did not ask for you
To beat me so bad — is all
That I thought I would die
And if I died, what then?
I did not ask for you
To lie, withholding truth
To save yourself, though you said
It was welcome by me — you see
A choice I did not have
I did not ask for you
To rape and throw me away
Like an unwanted gift
I was not an object
That you desired
I did not ask for you
To destroy me time after time
But I had the strength
To survive and stay alive

I did not ask for you…
