I watched her

I watched her through the years

As she sits silently and sullen

Softly spoken with a gentleness

I watched her as she sat and cry

Silently weeping to herself no less

I watched her as she’s beaten

Unable to fight back

She’s reserved and nervous

I watched her nearly die

As she takes yet another drink

And more pills to mix it up

I watched her at her lowest ebb

When she craved love and belonging

Yet I still watch her strive to survive

While she bravely gets up

I watch her live her best life

And I watch her for the last time

As she tells her story and

Courageously saves herself
