In the shallows

Can you hear me

As I speak your name

I’m hidden within the limits

Of each breath taken

I wait in the shallows

As darkness is to fall

Then will reappear when it’s safe

To explore my trauma

Bestowed upon me

While my soul stripped bare

All strength lost and

Control again removed

I will step out from the shallows

Into the sunlight where

I will claim my trauma

As my own
