You asked me my name
As I stood in the shadows
I hide my face with shame
Unable to speak, I shy away
You reached out your hand
Of friendship, you said
Yet I don’t know you
Dare I trust you? I guess not
I’m a loner, you know
Emotionless you see
Unable to show myself
Quiet as a sweet mouse
With layers of pain
Hidden from the world
I learned to silence myself
From what scared me
I remain unheard
Today I let go
Stop hiding my face
I give you my name
No, I won’t shy away
I show myself
And the layers of pain
My name is free
Use it with glee
Here, you see
I am sharing me
