The day I met my maker

The day I met my maker
For only a short moment
He smiled and shook his head
Turn back sweet little one
I’m not ready for you just now
While the light still shines
Above your head, you must go
Go, I did…Then the light fades
As if by a small miracle
No more wires connecting
Me to heaven
Or alarms above my bed
My mind was ready
Though my body was not
Today is not the day
I meet my maker
