The playground
A home where bullies roam
And teachers turn blind eyes
To children’s single cries
And kids panic-run
The playground
Where swings were dominated
By the ringleader
And his sidekicks
Who takes control
You see as bullies roam
Looking deeply
The playground
Full of kids who cry out
For the adults
To show them the way
And how to behave
Little by little
The playground
A place where bullies use to roam
The children’s cries are joyful
And the swings
For all to play
The playground
A home where kids are kids
And a generation
Becomes one

I chose to write a piece on bullying as this was a big problem for me growing up, as it is, even now 30+ years later!
Many don’t want to talk about bullying, and as someone who was bullied daily with nobody to turn to and like the poem states ‘teachers turned a blind eye’ Was soul destroying.
Bullying kills, it destroys lives and divides people, families and communities!!
