The things they said

They said I couldn’t
But damn right I did
They said I should be dead
Look at me — I’m alive
They broke me down
While I built myself up
I AM ME
Doing all
I CAN and WILL
To survive
On my own I did
All that they said I couldn't
I survived when science
And adversity meant
That I should have died
At the hands of YOU

I wrote this poem as a way to make myself realise my own worth.
The rose is there to remind me and others, that we can still grow and flourish, despite being broken down!!!
