Running through debris-strewn sewers
Chains dragging her soulless body down
With blood sweeping through her veins
And sweat accumulating throughout her body
She hears of whispers calling her name and feelings of shivers
Haunted by a voice, heard of once before
Her world filling with fear and brutality
As her breathing becomes laboured —
Suddenly filled with adrenalin, as she reaches out
To her inner child's voice, for answers
Hearing her say…Almost there, keep looking ahead
But do not quit, one said
Slowly picking up pace and strength
The chains begin to fall
While her breathing is now of pure calmness
Ahead was something else
A light, open spaces and life
The end of this nightmare — near
She is a survivor, nonetheless
