You set me on my way

You had to leave that day
That, I really do know
You set me on my way
So I could learn to grow
I struggle with my feelings
Daily I tried to keep going
Dealing with a loss and the meaning
Love I held, I’ll keep bestowing
Today I remember with sadness and grief
And smile when I think of the love we shared
Even though what we had was oh so brief
When you left this world I was not prepared
Today I stop hiding what we had
What we meant to each other
Today I will try not to be sad
I’m learning a life to rediscover
