You took from me…

You took from me
A mother — a love
A child's dream
Safety
Security
You told me why
Yet — did you lie
You told me too little
Reasons hard to see
Hard to believe
A struggle etched in me
How can I grieve for
Someone I didn’t have
A mother who is living

Another poem that I wrote for our #MMPOETRYBATTLE on Twitter.
The prompt word again was #Grief.
People generally think that grief is related only to death, but actually, it can relate to any kind of loss. Loss of a childhood or even, trauma — something that has happened to a person that takes away normality…and death!!
